Perfect Pre-Fall

Balenciaga Pre-Fall, WWD

Proenza Schouler Pre-Fall, WWD

Celine Pre-Fall, WWD

Major designers and design houses have been releasing Pre-Fall this week and it hasn't disappointed. Balenciaga, Proenza Schouler, and Celine were all shown in WWD this morning and based on this I can't wait for the Fall Collections.

Balenciaga had a definite sporty appeal, incorporating technical fabrics and prints in a range of styles. Proenza Schouler's collection was inspired by "The Catcher in the Rye" which was delivered with an updated version of traditional preppy. And Celine's Phoebe Philo updated her urban chic look with a dose of playfulness.

Even though it seems like Spring 2010 was just shown, Pre-Fall 2010 has been debuting for weeks now. The latest is Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton, which for this season was inspired by Ali McGraw's varsity style.

Here are a few looks from the collection.

What I Want Wednesday

For the past few years I've been obsessed with Roberta Freyman's boutique on the Upper East Side of New York. It is a mix of items she's imported from around the world as well as things she's designed in collaboration with others. She also has an off shoot lifestyle collection, Roberta Roller Rabbit, which focuses on adorable home furnishings, children's items, and pj's (among other things).

If you're in NYC a trip to her store is a highlight, but if you're not she also has an online site that offers up a small selection.

Here are a few of my favorites from her current collection.

Sapphire ring by Melissa Joy Manning

Since the 2006 release of Blood Diamond the jewelry industry has made a conscience effort to know the origins of diamonds. More recently they've also taken on gold mining and the controversy that surrounds it. Consumers are becoming more and more informed about what they buy and where it comes from and retailers are responding by sourcing cleaner gold.

While this is still a new practice, giants such as Tiffany's and Wal-Mart have joined the cause.

Here are a few of my favorite designers who are working with clean gold.
