All I Want for Christmas.....

Image from Etsy

With today being December 1st, I thought it appropriate to start a little Christmas gift guide of my own. Everyday I will list something I would love to give or receive.

The first item on my gift guide this year are vintage Christmas ornaments. Every year I give one ornament to the most important people in my life. In years past I've purchased these at Mr. Pink in NYC, but sadly he closed his doors at the end of last year. So, Etsy has become my back-up source. Here are a few that I am definitely considering for Christmas 2009.

Brad + Angelina + Asprey = Deja Vu

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, WWD
Snake Ring, WWD
Snake bracelet, WWD
Silver baby spoon, WWD

As I opened my copy of WWD this morning the front page story is of a new collaboration between Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and the British jewelry house Asprey.

Angelina was given a snake ring while pregnant with the couple's daughter Shiloh and now views the serpent as a protector of her family. The line is composed of gold jewelry and silver accessories and is aptly named 'The Protector'.

This is a limited edition collection with all net proceeds going to Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, a charity co-founded by Jolie in 2006.

Asprey has been on the wan for a few years so this move will definitely help to up their presence in the saturated jewelry market, and as much as I love Brangelina and a good cause, the first thing this calls to mind is Brad & Jen's collaboration with jeweler Damani.

Regardless of that, what baby doesn't need a silver serpent spoon?

I'm In Love

As I've been searching through New York, Milan, and now Paris fashion shows for the latest and the greatest, I've come across a pair of shoes that I absolutely adore. These heels are a cross between an ankle bootie and a gladiator and have a beautiful Ikat print.

Thakoon's shoes are usually a collaboration with Manolo Blahnik and are not always produced, so fingers crossed that these will make the final cut!

Oh Baby!

Okay, I promise there won't be a ton of posts regarding babies and the cute things I've been finding (and wanting), but I had to share this. While in Cape Cod my husband and I ran across this label, Zutano, and I'm in love with their adorable outfits. I've had a hard time finding things that are cute but tolerable (ie, without stupid sayings on them) and this completely fits the bill.

I bought this owl footie the other day, but held out on the hat (which I'm sure I'll be back for).

Here I Go Again

I know this is a title to a Whitesnake song (and I might add, an excellent one), but I thought it best summed up where I am right now. As of lately I've been feeling less than inspired. I don't know if it's the change of season, the fact that I'm back from vacation, or what, but I've been a terrible blogger. In fact, I've just started looking at shows from Fashion Week (I know, I know). So, in an effort to become more inspired and contribute more to the fashion blogging community I'm going to expand my blogs to not only include accessories, but other fashion related items, or really anything that I'm thinking about or obsessing over.

I would love to hear your feedback, let me know your likes and dislikes, what you're looking for, interested in, etc.

Here's to a new leaf!

Ring It Up

Asha by ADM at Vivre

Since Thursday is the official kick off for the Spring 2010 NYC Fashion Week I thought I would post a few things that I would love to buy for my "back to school" wardrobe.

The first is this amazing ring from Asha by ADM. Ashley is a relatively new jewelry designer and I adore her mother of pearl zodiac rings. To me, this is the signet ring updated for 2009.

Fashionair

A few weeks ago I signed up for a preview of a new fashion website, Fashionair. Since then I've been receiving weekly updates covering everything from designer profiles to styling tips and tricks. From what I've seen so far, this website is going to be a serious leader in the fashion industry, it's well thought out and executed beautifully.

It's up and running full time now, so check it out.

Roped In

Bernadette Paolucci via Daily Candy

Even though summer is almost over (calender wise anyway) I read about designer Bernadette Paolucci's rope necklaces today on Daily Candy and had to share them.

How wonderful would these be to wear on Cape Cod or the streets of Brooklyn?

For more information go to Old Hollywood.

Metallic Perfection

Yo My Booties at MilkShop

Since finding out I'm having a baby I've been more in tune with all things baby related. Recently I was in LA and while shopping on Abbott Kinney saw these amazing metallic baby booties. They are by far the most adorable booties I've come across and will definitely end up on my registry! The only problem is, I can't decide on a color.

Rachel Zoe's New Home

As I'm sure most of you have heard by now, Rachel Zoe launched her own website last week. While my personal verdict on her is still out, I can't help but be fascinated by her show on Bravo and I have to admit, the website could definitely come in handy for information and new resources. So, for now I'll be checking in and seeing what's new in the world of Zoe.

Shoe News

Loeffler Randall, an editor favorite, has relaunched their e-commerce site today. The 4 year old brand, which started with shoes, branched out into clothing and handbags in 2007 (the handbags are currently on hiatus, but will be back soon).

Jessie Randall, the chief executive officer and creative director, earned a CFDA award for Accessory Design in 2007 and said this fall's collection was inspired by the Louise Bourgeois exhibit at the Whitney Museum. The collection has a harder edge and includes bondage-y straps and buckles.

Check it all out here.

Back In Action, Take Two

My apologies for being away so much in the past few weeks. I found out I was pregnant in May and have been exhausted for the past few months. But I promise I'm back, and feeling much better!

To Dye For

Foley & Corinna bag from Saks Fifth Avenue

Reed Evins sandals from Oak

Michael Kors scarves from Vivre

It's been so cool and rainy in NYC this summer that it's felt more like Seattle. Consequently I've wanted to start wearing all of my summer dresses and sandals but other than the (very) odd warm sunny day I've been unable to. That is, until hopefully, today. It's supposed to be sunny and (wait for it!) 82!!! I can't believe I'm actually wishing for warmer weather, but what can I say, you always want what you don't have.

So, in an effort to start thinking summer I've pulled images of some fun tie-dyed pieces. I know that the subject of tie-dye starts quite a controversy, but I think if done right, it can be a colorful addition to your summer wardrobe. And, the bonus is that since it's already mid June, a lot of these are on sale.

Enjoy!

What I Want Wednesday

Image from Winifred Grace

I've decided to dedicate each Wednesday to "What I Want Wednesday". I'll share with you some of the accessories I'm coveting (and hoping) to purchase soon.

Most people who know me, will agree that my taste tends to lie on the more "traditional/classic" side. I'm not one of the magazine editors who can pull off the rocker-chic look (although I do really admire them). However, over the past few months I've found myself really drawn towards the layered chain necklaces. I once had an amazing silver looped RJ Graziano necklace that was vaguely in this genre, but sadly, it broke (and I've yet to have it fixed). So, I have my sights set on designer Winifred Grace's necklaces. I worked with Winifred while at O Magazine and not only is she a wonderfully nice person, but her designs are amazing.

Here are the choices I'm obsessing over!

Shady Lady

The Virginia Style from Modo for Jennifer Creel, Image from WWD

Jennifer Creel, Image from WWD

Jennifer Creel is launching a sunglasses collaboration with Modo, called Modo for Jennifer Creel, which will launch on Wednesday evening and be available for 2 months exclusively at Bergdorf Goodman.

The line will retail from $285-$365 and be comprised of 7, mainly unisex, styles.

What sets this line apart from other sunglasses collections is the Eco twist, both wood packaging and bamboo frames are made from recycled materials and for each pair sold a tree will be planted.
